They’re constantly running to daycare, school, work, meetings and all manner of lessons for the kids. Why in the world would they want to run in their spare time? Six parents of children between the ages of 9 months and 14 years tell us why.

Fanny

“I started running to socialize. I find it therapeutic!” (*laughs*)

Fanny has been jogging 3 or 4 times a week for the better part of 4 years. Her children are Flavie (8) and Maèva (11).

Frédéric

“Running makes me feel good. It relaxes me.”

Fred has been running 3 or 4 times a week for the past 12 years. His children are Florence (6) and Oliver (9).

Jasmine

“Running helps me escape. I can clear my head and come up with solutions to problems. It’s a great time to think, and really the only time when I’m totally left alone.”

Jasmine has been running 1 to 3 times a week for about 4 years. She has 2 children: Léonie (9) and Loïc (11).

Simon

“The benefit of running for me is that it keeps me fit, without having to go to a gym. It’s also very important for my mental health. It makes me more patient with the kids.”

Simon has been running about 5 times a week for the past 3 years. His children are Elliott (3) and Alex (6).

Julie

“For me, running satisfies several needs: being alone with my thoughts when I run for long stretches, socializing when I’m with people from my running club, and spending time with my daughter when we run on the mountain together. All the bases are covered!”

Julie has been running 4 times a week for the past 5 years. Her daughter is Marek (14).

Amélie

“Running lets me have time just for me. I listen to the new music coming out. It gives me a chance to listen to some quieter stuff.”

Amélie has been running 2 or 3 times a week for the past 4 years. Her children are Henri (9 months), Éléonore (4) and Simone (7).
